Why Use Our Services?
The alternative, Sclerotherapy, tends to be a tedious process which involves
injecting each vein. However, our laser treatments do not involve painful
injections!
What Are Spider Veins?
Spider Veins, or Telangiactasias, are those small, red, pink and blue
blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and legs. In contrast,
Varicose Veins, are usually larger in diameter and may appear raised with
a bluish color. These veins may be related to a more serious vascular
disorder, and require careful evaluation by your doctor prior to treatment
at our facility.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
We can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. It can even
treat sensitive areas like the face and behind the knees.
What Are The Treatments Like?
Our laser delivers pulses of light energy which cause the blood within
the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessels. It treats the
targeted vessels, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. Treatments usually
take several minutes, depending on the number of vessels treated and their
location.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
The number of treatments needed vary case by case. For optimal results multiple
treatments are typically needed. These treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Final results may not be fully apparent for several months.
Do The Treatments Hurt?
Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy
are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain
medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic
prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.
What Happens After The Treatment?
Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger
veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks
or months following treatment. Patients who have leg vein treatments may
also be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time to help
keep pressure on the veins.
What Are The Possible Side Effects?
Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly
noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects
typically last for 24 hours or less. Some patients may experience bruising,
and in rare instances, blistering may occur. Although many patients report

staff for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.
How Long Do The Results Last?
The veins that have been treated are reabsorbed by the body. Overtime, it is
possible for the body to produce new vessels especially if you are involved
in activities that require you to be on your feet for long periods or a family
history of spider veins. You will generally see an overall reduction in the
amount of spider veins and any new veins can be treated in a similar fashion.
Are There Any Restrictions On My Activity After
Treatment?
Patients are generally permitted to resume most normal activities immediately.
However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as
strenuous exercise for approximately 5 days after your treatment in order to
minimize increased pressure on the treated vessels. For patients who treat
their legs, our nurses may advise you to avoid hot baths for three to five days.
The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the
sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
