What Causes Facial Veins?
There are numerous possible causes for these dilated blood vessels. They
may include heredity, oral contraceptives, sun exposure, aging process or
trauma. They may also be caused by another treatable condition called
Rosacea.
What Should I Expect With Facial
Vascular Skin Treatments?
Most clients describe the sensation as like the snap of a rubber band on
the skin as the pulse of the laser light is applied through the laser
hand piece. An optional topical numbing cream can be applied to reduce
any discomfort.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Typically, significant improvement is seen after first session, however multiple
sessions may be necessary to achieve optimal results. Treatments are usually
spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
How Long Do Treatments Take?
Facial vein treatments usually last 15 to 30 minutes. The length of time
varies according to the number and size of the vessels needing treatment.
What Can I Expect Before The Treatment?
Prior to the actual treatment you will be asked to remove your make-up or
moisturizers and in some cases, you may be asked to shave the area to be
treated so as not to interfere with the laser treatment. A topical numbing
cream will be applied if desired or if an extensive treatment is planned to
minimize any temporary discomfort. Our nurses will review and assist with all
pretreatment requirements.
What Should I Expect After A Treatment?
There is usually minimal to no pain following treatment sessions. Most often
side effects are mild swelling and redness. On rare occasions, blistering or
bruising may appear. Your skin may be tender for several days and you will
need to use a mild, gentle cleanser and most importantly, a good sunscreen,
such as our Celazome SPF30 sunscreen and moisturizer.
What Other Treatments Will Help?
After the major red to purple facial veins have been eliminated there may be
some residual diffuse redness. Using the Laser Genesis / Skin Rejuvenation process
will decrease or eliminate the remaining redness. Check this website for further
information on Laser Genesis / Skin
Rejuvenation.
